Hello and welcome to The Smithy Studios. We are a local yarn store, gallery and art studios in the heart of Glossop, on the way to the Peak District National Park.

Run by Cathy and Carole, Smithy Studios is a friendly, relaxed place to visit. We spend a lot of time chatting round our big table with visitors and friends; the kettle is overworked and the cake shop our best friend!

We use the talent of local artists and crafts people to deliver our workshops in knitting, glass making, felt making, sewing, corsetry, spinning, hand dying, ceramics and crochet.

We love the unexpected, the innovative and the classic. Our gallery space reflects this; we show and sell work that we find interesting and maybe a bit challenging. Check our Gallery page for the details of the artists we currently have in the Gallery and shop.

Cathy is an internationally renowned glass artist, a graduate of the 3D Design programme at Manchester Metropolitan University; Carole is an enthusiastic knitter and secretary of glossopmoot* (our local Textile Arts group). We met through glossopmoot* and through The Smithy Studios we are pursuing our dream.

The Smithy Studios is a Community Interest Company. We have received funding from Key Fund Yorkshire and the Live & Work Rural programme of the Peak District National Park Authority. We are grateful to both organisations for their support and advice.
