Christmas Gifts for the knitter/felter/glassmaker/crafter in your life…

It can be a challenge to buy for a knitter, spinner or feltmaker when this isn’t your area of expertise. But don’t worry we have a solution. With our bespoke service we can put together a gift for you. Tell us a bit about the person the gift is for and your price range and leave the rest to us. We can even find free patterns from the internet if we don’t have anything suitable in stock. We will put together yarn, needles and pattern.

And if your giftee is a felter, let us know their favourite colours and we’ll put together a bag of 70’s merino for them – from a few pounds. Great as a stocking filler.

If you are looking for something hands on how about a 1:1 class with one of our tutors – stained or fused glass, knitting or crochet. Prices from £15 an hour for knitting and crochet and £20 an hour for glass classes.

For spinners, or those who fancy a go, we have drop spindles and locally dyed merino – we can put the two together for £20.

And finally, how about a gift voucher? I love a voucher to my favourite crafty shops – I hide it away and then when I just must have that wool, right now – I can!

We are sure you can find something for the one you love this Christmas – pop in and have a look around.

Knitting and Crochet and Glass
We will be running our Beginners Crochet and Knitting classes again in the New Year as well as Stained Glass and Fused Glass classes with Catherine Carr. A bout of the flu has prevented us from finalising these dates but they will be with you soon.
Our final piece of workshop news is that our sewing teacher Ella gave birth to Abigail in October – both are doing well.
Other News
We are having a new website built with an online shop. The online shop will carry everything we have in The Studios and you will also be able to book and pay for workshops & classes. The new website will be launched in the New Year.
If you are looking for studio space, we will have some available both up and downstairs in the New Year. The studio can be booked in hourly, daily, weekly, a day a week etc chunks. Most of our users have a regular booking which is more economical for them and does make it easier for us to slot in occasional users. If you would like more details please get in touch.
We are also keen to meet local artists and makers who are interested in displaying and selling their work through the Studios. If this is you, or someone you know, please get in touch. In the past seven months have had exhibitions of Carol Becketts’ MA work; the work of two Glossopdale students; Tracey Cupitt’s beautiful wall art and our current exhibition from Erika Robertson (see below) which will run until mid-January. We’re always looking out for new talent and have found Glossop and its surrounding area rich.
Happy Xmas and a peaceful New Year

It’s late…

…so a small and largely picture post tonight with more gift ideas.

Some of Maggie Moons hand painted and batik silk scarves and paperweights (clearly the paperweights contain something heavy as well  as the silk. Silk really isn’t going to make a good paperweight on it’s own).
These are two of Erika’s paintings. Affordable original art.

The exhibition of Erika’s work is open until mid-January. So please drop in to have a look.
