A Half-term treat

We have seen much excitement from our younger customers about out half-term workshop on Thursday. Barbara Helm (also known as Little Barb) is coming in to show us how to make a ring from buttons. Barbara is really talented at putting together rings of different sizes to create these unique pieces of jewellery.

These are some of the rings Barbara has made…

and Barbara also makes necklaces & crochet cuffs.

The workshop is on Thursday 27th October, 2 – 3.30pm and is for parents and children and costs just £10 for both of you!

Now I understand

A while back, before the Studios became a reality and took over my life, I used to get impatient with blogs with long gaps between posts. Now, I totally understand! I find that byt he end of the day I have little energy left for the blog even though there is tons of stuff to share and i have been writing posts in my head all day. So forgive me for the infrequent posts and instead of the mea culpa approach, from now on I’m going to celebrate the posts that happen rather than bemoan the lack of posts inbetween!

So, on to todays news…

Beginners Crochet is on Saturday 8th October, 2 – 4pm and costs just £10.

We’ve added a new workshop to the programme. Jill Wood is coming to the Studios on Saturday to teach a class in beginners crochet. We have imaginatively called this ‘Beginners Crochet’ and Jill says

Add this easy, versatile and portable skill to your talents.
This workshop will give you all the basic skills you need to crochet on your own, including chain, slip stitch, double and treble crochet (UK terminology).
You will learn the basic stitches, plus some crochet terminology.
You’ll bring home your project – a wrist cuff, mug-hug or small purse, plus your crochet hook and a ‘cheat sheet’ with all you’ve learned, including some tips and wrinkles. “
All materials will be supplied for this course, although you may wish to bring along your own choice of DK yarn for your project.
NOTE: If being left-handed has been a bar to your learning crochet, then do not despair! Jill can teach you. She is left-handed and has been happily crocheting for years.
