Hello, it’s been a while! Over the last week we’ve been working hard to put together our celebration of wool as part of The Campaign for Wool’s Wool Week. Wool Week runs from 5th – 11th September and around the country there are events, special offers and lots of free patterns and interactivity across the web. I’ve put a few favourite places to visit at the end of this post.
So what are we up to?
On Friday, local felt artist Hannah Dodd is giving a demonstration of felt making from 12 – 2pm. Hannah is a member of Peak District Artisans and her bags. pictures and other goodies. Hannahs website is http://www.craftyoldbags.com/.
On Saturday, we will have a spinning demonstration by Deborah aka Fondant Fibre. Deborah uses a wheel and drop spindle and will also be showing how fleece is prepared for spinning. Deborah hand dyes fibre and yarn too, we will have some on sale on Saturday.
Also on Saturday, local knitting group ‘Knit 1 Sip too’ are coming along to knit little woollen sheep Christmas Tree decorations. They will be in the shop (or on the balcony weather permitting) from 10.30 – 12pm. Why not bring your woolly project along and join them.
The icing on the cake is our special Wool Week offer – 20% off 100% wool yarn (Rowan Sheep Breeds, Rowan Renew, Manos Clasica, Patons Fairytale, Troon Tweed) and 10% off wool mixes (including Fyberspates Scrumptious, Rowan Felted Tweed, Manos Silk Blend). And 20% off Millward knitting needles and crochet hooks.
Now for the real icing on the cake!
Alice Rose Cakes, Cookies and Favours are baking some special sheep themed cupcakes for sale at their shop on Saturday – so head on down the High Street.
